Cheap London to Delhi flights: a nonstop fare guide

Compare Heathrow–Delhi fares, practical airport alternatives and a London–Delhi–Lucknow skip-leg example before choosing your ticket.

Use Heathrow (LHR) and Delhi (DEL) airport codes to keep your comparisons consistent.

If Delhi is where you need to be, start by pricing a ticket that ends at Delhi. This gives you a straightforward baseline for comparing dates, airlines and any skip-leg option. The key to a useful London–Delhi comparison is keeping the airport, first flight and required baggage consistent.

Use the right airports in your search

London Heathrow is LHR and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is DEL. A broad London search can include other airports and connecting services. Use LHR when you specifically want to compare the Heathrow nonstop; check the actual departure airport before booking.

Birmingham (BHX) is a separate UK gateway, not a London airport. It is worth comparing when it is easier to reach and a suitable Delhi service operates on your date. Do not add an airport merely because its headline fare looks lower: include the train, parking, travel time and any hotel you would need.

Build a like-for-like London–Delhi comparison

  1. 01
    Search the conventional nonstop

Use LHR–DEL, your date, passenger count and cabin. Record the operating airline, flight number, local times and baggage. Check the current airline schedule; services and aircraft can change.

  2. 02
    Compare nearby travel dates

Check departures you can actually use, then vary your return date if relevant. Do not compare a one-way fare with a round-trip total or one seat with a family booking.

  3. 03
    Price a connecting alternative

Compare a normal one-stop itinerary that ends in Delhi. Include layover length, overnight costs, airport changes and whether the connection is on one ticket. A normal connection is different from skipping the final flight on a longer ticket.

  4. 04
    Review a skip-leg option separately

For a London–Lucknow itinerary through Delhi, verify that its first flight matches the LHR–DEL flight you want. The whole ticket still ends in Lucknow, so review baggage destination, no-show terms and any later flights before choosing it.

How the London–Delhi–Lucknow example works

exitfare’s configured London–Delhi comparison looks at longer tickets to Lucknow via Delhi. The opportunity is a difference between the price of the Delhi-only ticket and the total Lucknow ticket using the same first flight. There is no guarantee that this difference exists on your date.

If you take both flights and reach Lucknow, you have flown the booked connecting itinerary. If you buy it intending to stay in Delhi and miss Delhi–Lucknow, that is skip-leg or hidden-city ticketing. The label does not remove the onward flight, promise that bags stop in Delhi, or preserve a return on the same booking.

Put a price on convenience

Illustrative comparison: a £560 nonstop and a £460 connecting ticket differ by £100. If the connection adds five hours plus £35 of additional trip costs, you are trading the extra journey for £65 of cash savings. Neither option is automatically better; the decision depends on your time, budget and plans after arrival.

Check local arrival dates before you pay

India is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead of the UK during British Summer Time and 5 hours 30 minutes ahead in winter. Read the local dates on the itinerary, including any next-day arrival indicator, instead of calculating arrival from the departure clock alone. Use the schedule for the exact flight rather than relying on a fixed flight-time or aircraft claim.

London–Delhi fare questions

Is a London–Lucknow ticket the same as a Delhi ticket?

No. Even if the first flight is identical, the Lucknow ticket has an onward segment and a different final destination. Review the complete itinerary and conditions.

Will Birmingham always be cheaper than Heathrow?

No. Compare available schedules, fare inclusions and the cost of reaching each airport for your exact date. A cheaper ticket can be a more expensive whole journey.

Where can I check current London–Delhi prices?

Search the dates you need on Google Flights and the airline’s booking site, then compare the matching exitfare option and request a current quote. Prices shown in examples are not current availability.
