How to use Google Flights to compare cheap India fares
Use nonstop filters, flexible dates, price tracking and baggage costs to build a reliable comparison with an exitfare skip-leg quote.

Google Flights is useful for establishing what a conventional flight to India costs on your dates. A consistent search also makes it easier to assess an exitfare comparison. Here is a practical workflow for finding alternatives without confusing a lower price with a different journey.
Set up the search before comparing prices
- 01Choose the trip type, passengers and cabin
Select one way or return to match the journey you need, and include all adults, children and infants. Choose your cabin and currency. Use those settings again when you compare another provider.
- 02Enter exact airports and dates
For Heathrow–Delhi, use LHR and DEL rather than a broad London search if the airport matters to you. Check the local departure and return dates. A lower price from another airport is a separate option until you include the cost of getting there.
- 03Compare Best and Cheapest results
Google’s Best tab weighs price against convenience, while Cheapest prioritises low prices and can include additional agency offers or less convenient itineraries. Inspect self-transfers, airport changes and layovers rather than assuming both tabs contain equivalent trips.
- 04Filter for nonstop if that is your requirement
Note the flight number, operating airline, times and total for the suitable result. Keep a connecting option as a separate comparison so a longer journey does not look like a discount on the nonstop.
Use the date grid and price graph
The date tools let you compare departures and returns you can actually use. The price graph can show how prices differ over time. Start with a manageable window around your planned trip and check which itinerary sits behind the low price before treating it as an equivalent alternative.
If you are still deciding, enable price tracking for the route or flight. Google supports searched dates and, where available, any-dates tracking. Notifications highlight changes; they do not hold a seat or guarantee that the price remains available when you book.
Include baggage and verify the booking link
Use the bags filter where available to include required checked or cabin baggage fees. Then open the chosen airline or agency offer and check that the itinerary, passenger count, baggage and total still match. Search prices can change, and Google’s results may not reflect every offer in the market.
- Same flight number, date and airports as the result you selected.
- Same one-way or return scope, cabin and number of passengers.
- Required baggage, booking charges and payment currency included.
- Change, cancellation and no-show conditions understood before payment.
Compare an exitfare skip-leg quote correctly
Use the conventional nonstop quote as your baseline. For a longer-ticket quote through the same city, match the first flight’s number, airline, date and airports. Compare the total of the whole longer ticket, including charges, with the conventional ticket’s final price.
That establishes a price difference, not identical conditions. A Heathrow–Delhi–Lucknow ticket continues beyond Delhi. If you intend to stop there, read the skip-leg guide and resolve baggage destination, unused-segment rules and the consequences for later flights. The fact that Google or another search site lists a fare is not airline approval to skip a leg.
Record the search time, currency, flight number, date, cabin, bags and final total for each quote. This makes it easier to tell whether a changed price is new inventory or simply a different product.
Google Flights comparison questions
Does Google Flights only show direct flights?
No. It can show nonstop and connecting itineraries. Use the stops filter if you want a conventional nonstop reference.
Does a low price insight guarantee the cheapest possible ticket?
No. Insights use historical comparisons and predictions, and results may not include every available offer. Check the itinerary and final seller price.
Can a saved Google quote be used as a permanent price guarantee?
No. It records a price at a point in time. Recheck the matching current offer before comparing it with another booking quote.
